For Lummus Technology Heat Transfer B.V. we are looking for a

Senior Welding and Metallurgist Engineer (m/f/d)

at the earliest date possible.

 

 

This position is located in the Lummus Technology office in Brno / Czech Republic.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review of metallurgical testing (macro/microstructure analysis, hardness, tensile, impact testing)
  • Analyze welding defects and recommend corrective actions
  • Develop welding process documentation, including work instructions and best practices
  • Oversee weld quality inspections using NDT methods (RT, UT, PT, MT)
  • Review and approve welding procedures for fabrication and repair work
  • Conduct lab and field studies to validate welding parameters and material performance
  • Evaluate alternative materials and welding technologies for sustainability and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve material performance and weldability
  • Support new product development by advising on material selection and welding methods
  • Conduct training sessions for engineers, welders, and technicians on welding best practices

 

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • 10+ years of welding and metallurgy experience
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW, etc.) and metallurgy
  • Experience in weld failure analysis, corrosion analysis, and metallurgical testing
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and technical report-writing skills, including ability to communicate fluently in English
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and welding personnel
  • Willingness and readiness to travel for business purposes, domestically and internationally
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
